The CGSA of Oahu offers a scholarship opportunity every Spring.
2024 CGSA of Oahu Student Loan Relief and Tuition Scholarship Application
Applications must be completed by midnight (HST), April 15th, 2024. Late applications will not be considered.
Eligibility
The applicant must meet the following criteria:
The applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a dependent of: (a) Active Duty U.S. Coast Guard member or USCG Civilian Employee currently stationed in Hawaii (b) Retired U.S. Coast Guard member residing in Hawaii (c) Survivor of deceased U.S. Coast Guard member residing in Hawaii
- High school graduate or senior graduating in this current school year.
- Enrollment or acceptance at an accredited college, university, technical or vocational school.
- Have student loan debt.
- Anyone who has previously received a CGSA scholarship
- Anyone on a full scholarship.
- Scholarship selection committee chair or members or dependents of selection committee chair or members.

- Complete application via the link provided below. Application is available through Google Forms. Gmail/Log-in is not required.
- Submit 200-500 word essay (see requirements below)
- If awarded, must provide proof of U.S. Coast Guard dependent status (Do not send a copy of your dependent ID) *Status to be visually verified by CGSA of Oahu Officer

200-500 word essay using one of the following subjects:
a. What are your educational or career goals and what are you doing to obtain your goals?
b. What is your biggest challenge associated with your education? What will you do to overcome this challenge?

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:
Awarding the Scholarship
The scholarship committee will consist of current year CGSA members. No relatives of an applicant are eligible to be on the scholarship committee. All decisions of the committee will be considered final. The CGSA reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship at their discretion.
The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:
- Completeness and eligibility
- Essay: length/grammar/technical writing skills/flow
- Higher preference may be given to someone not using the G.I. Bill
